1. Comments in Python
Comments are notes in the code that the Python interpreter ignores. They are used to explain and document the code, making it easier to understand and maintain.
Single-line comments: Begin with the # symbol.
Multi-line comments: Typically use triple quotes ''' or """.
# Single-line comment
print("Hello, World!") # This comment is on the same line as the code
"""
Multi-line comment:
This spans multiple lines.
The Python interpreter will ignore these lines.
"""
print("Multi-line comments are often used for documentation.")
2. Escape Sequences in Python
Escape sequences are used to insert special characters into strings that are otherwise difficult to include directly. An escape sequence begins with a backslash (\) followed by one or more characters.
# Using escape sequences in strings
print("Hello, World!") # Normal string
print("Hello,\nWorld!") # Newline character
print("Hello,\tWorld!") # Tab character
print("This is a backslash: \\") # Backslash character
3. Print Statement in Python
The print() function in Python is used to display output to the console. It can take multiple arguments, handle different data types, and has various options for formatting.
# Basic Usage
print("Hello, World!")
# Printing Multiple Items
print("The answer is", 42)
# Custom Separator
print("Hello", "World", sep=", ")
# Custom End Character
print("Hello", end=" ")
print("World")
# Formatted Strings
name = "Alice"
age = 30
print(f"My name is {name} and I am {age} years old.")
print("My name is {}.format(name, age)")
# Example Combining All Concepts
# This script demonstrates comments, escape sequences, and print statements
# Single-line comment
print("Hello, World!") # This prints a greeting
# Multi-line comment
"""
The following block of code demonstrates various escape sequences and print options.
"""
# Escape sequences
print("Using escape sequences:")
print("Newline: \\nNext line")
print("Tab: \\tIndented")
print("Quote: \\"Double\\" and \\'Single\\'")
print("Backslash: \\\\")
# Print statements with custom separators and end characters
print("Hello", "World", sep=", ", end="!\\n")
# Formatted strings
name = "Bob"
age = 25
print(f"Formatted string with f-strings: My name is {name} and I am {age} years old.")
print("Formatted string with format method: My name is {}.format(name, age)")
